July 18th is World Listening Day (WLD). The day was established in 2010 by the World Listening Project (WLP) to celebrate the birthday of composer, writer, educator, and acoustic ecologist R. Murray Schafer.
On Friday, July 18 from 12 pm PDT to 12 am ET, we will broadcast a continuous stream of recordings that will developed into a responsive real-time piece.
Between July 7th and 14th, participants will receive instructions for listening and recording sounds. They are free to act upon any or all of the prompts of the most interest. After each activity, recordings are sent to Sound Archives to be mixed and broadcasted into the soundscape collage broadcast.
Stay tuned for news on new events and workshops!
